Practices, discussions and philosophies of working creatively with sound

About

About the Creative Sonic Practices Research Group

The Creative Sonic Practices Research Group (CSP RG) sits within the Department of Creative Technology, in the Faculty of Science and Technology, Bournemouth University. It brings together music and sound researchers from the department, fostering a supportive and collaborative research community, and showcasing current and recently completed projects.

The group's members are concerned with the practices, discussions and philosophies of working creatively with sound. This often involves creating practice-based and/or text-based research that addresses the processes and contexts of sonic creativity, as well as using creative practice as a method of research enquiry. Group members work on individual and interdisciplinary collaborative projects.

Many of the CSP RG members are also members of EMERGE (Experimental Media Research Centre) at Bournemouth University.

Research outputs have been published, presented and performed in international conferences, festivals and  journals, including:

  • ICMC - International Computer Music Conference
  • SMC - Sound and Music Computing Conference
  • NIME - New Interfaces for Musical Expression
  • Klang! Festival of Electroacoustic Music, France
  • Sonorities Festival, Belfast
  • Onasis Foundation, Athens
